I, TOO, WOULD BE TAKEN IN BY MR HOSMER ANGEL

I bought The Time Traveler’s Wife today. Have no preconceptions. If the blurb on the back is the be all and end all it will be worth one read.
Last night I listened to my old tape of the Radio 4 dramatisation of A Case of Identity (from The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes) Ralph Bates plays Hosmer Angel. I love his voice. It reminded me, too, of his fabulous roles in the Hammer films (Lord Courtney/ Dr Jekyll etc.) and also of his compassionate portrayal of the title character in Dear John (although nothing can beat Warleggan in the Poldark saga). I re-read the story today. I heard his voice as I did so.
