BRIDESHEAD REVISITED - Evelyn Waugh, 1945

I love this book. It caught my attention with the famous 80s TV adaptation but it has remained with me ever since and it was such a treat to read it again. I want to be Julia.
Re-reading it (the same copy I bought at the time) I find that there are certain passages underlined. I must have known, even in my early teens, that it would be important to me.
‘I should like to bury something precious in every place where I’ve been happy and then, when I was old and ugly and miserable, I could come back and dig it up and remember.’ So says Sebastian when he first takes Charles to visit Brideshead. What a lovely idea.
