ROGER FEDERER, THE GREATEST – Chris Bowers, 2011

This was an enjoyable read but it is very much centred on the court life of Federer. One day, maybe, there will be an authorised biography, or even the Man himself will deem the time right to pen his own version of events. In the meantime, this supplies plenty of facts about each and every match and the odd indication of how it feels to be at the top of your chosen field, mainly glimpsed from Federer press conferences. There is little insight into the thoughts of a private man but it is still a good account of how such a beautiful player came to defeat the big-hitting, grunting thrashers and bring the glory back to tennis.
