DOGWATCHING, THE ESSENTIAL GUIDE TO DOG BEHAVIOUR – Desmond Morris, 1986

I’m not sure if the ‘science’ of this book has been superseded by now but it is a captivating read and one of those books which makes you go “Oh, yes! I never thought of that!”

Morris obviously loves dogs and strives to explain their uniquely loveable but at times unruly behaviour. I think sometimes, you just have to say “It’s because they’re a dog.” Anything which tries to give people a greater understanding of, and therefore empathy with, their pet gets my vote, though.
