THE RED HOUSE MYSTERY – AA Milne, 1922

A perfect little locked room mystery story. What a shame it is the only one he wrote.
‘A rediscovered classic,’ it says on the front of my copy. It certainly is, a sort of cross between PG Wodehouse and Agatha Christie.

I guessed the outcome but that was almost part of its charm; there were no red herrings and with a bit of healthy deduction it was possible to work out the answer along with Antony Gillingham, the amateur detective.
