BLACK DOG – Levi Pinfold, 2012

A wonderful children’s book. The illustrations are fantastic and deserving of the awards which they have won. But it is the genius behind the text which I love so much – the way he turns the ‘Black Dog’ myth on its head. The way he says face your fears.

Small, the child, is unafraid and is able to tame the dog, reducing its size along with its threat until it becomes a pet.

With its connotation of depression, there is also a message for adults. Brilliant.
