THE FIRST FOUR YEARS – Laura Ingalls Wilder, 1971

This would have continued Laura’s narrative but it was never worked up into a final novel.
It is still an important part of the overall story and relates the enormous difficulties which Laura and Almanzo faced in the early years of their marriage, leading them to leave De Smet and Pa, Ma, Mary, Carrie and Grace along with it.

Rose Wilder Lane, their daughter, provides additional information about the move but it is still Laura’s story and we are, as usual, still caught up in her world.
