ROSENCRANTZ AND GUILDENSTERN ARE DEAD – Tom Stoppard, 1966

A work of genius occurs very infrequently but this based on a sideshow from Hamlet, is one such example.

From the opening scene, where the laws of probability are overturned, via the in-joke of monkeys landing heads or tails, we are led to the famous lines of Shakespeare which seal the characters’ fate.
