THE POISONWOOD BIBLE – Barbara Kingsolver, 1998

This is definitely one of the books which will stick in my mind from this summer’s reading.
I saw it mentioned in Blood River but was unaware of it before then. Coincidentally coming across a cheap copy, I thought it must surely be the time to read it.
The five individual voices give such insight, personal and worldly, into events in the Congo in the Twentieth Century.

A worthy sequel to Heart of Darkness with as much darkness but also a clear, shining light.
