THE GHOSTS OF HAPPY VALLEY – Juliet Barnes, 2013

A year or two ago, after reading White Mischief,  I became quite obsessed with the Happy Valley set and read everything I could on the theme.
This book is written by another enthusiast, a Kenyan author who seeks out the ruins of the houses once owned by Joss, Idina, Alice etc.

What she finds is a devastated landscape: forests have been cut down, rivers are polluted, wildlife has been decimated. But, beneath the surface, she is able to locate the original farms, trace the decline of a community and a way of life and draw her own
conclusions about the most infamous murder of that time and place.
