LUCKY JIM – Kingsley Amis, 1954

This is not the funniest novel ever. It is not even one of the funniest. I think it suffers from such a label as it is unable to live up to such high praise.
It is very amusing and well worth a read. It made me smile on more than a few occasions but not once did it make me laugh out loud.

Jim Dixon is a comic character who gets into scrapes before everything works out well for him at the end.
