ONE SUMMER 1927 – Bill Bryson, 2013

I loved Bryson’s account of the events of the summer months of one particular year almost 90 years ago. I was given it as a Christmas present but I deliberately kept it until I could read it in the garden in the hot weather.

Bryson knits together the biographies of Babe Ruth, Al Capone, Charles Lindberg and Henry Ford, along with the Mississippi Flood, the first talking pictures at the cinema and the creation of the first shopping malls.
