LIBERTY BAR – Georges Simenon, 1932

One of the latest reprints of the Maigret novels, ‘Liberty Bar’ is one of the ‘seedier’ of the novels but a welcome addition to the collection now in print as it shows the range of the Simenon imagination.
I hear that Maigret is now to be resurrected for British TV; I sincerely hope not in the same way as Sherlock Holmes.

Liberty Bar is a great mystery, worthy of a great mind. Simenon has that mind.
